Subseries contains photographs of famous musicians, composers, and actors, many of which are autographed. The photographs were obtained by John Daniel Logan in his capacity as a concert reviewer and for his personal collection. Many of the photographs were sent by the musicians and actors at his request, as evidenced by his correspondence with them.

Autographs and photographs of musicians and actors

Series contains autographs, autograph letters, and autographed photographs. The letters were purchased by John Daniel Logan and were predominantly written by composers, including Giuseppe Verdi and Jacques Offenbach. Many of the autographs are signed on concert programs, presumably from concerts that Logan attended. The photographs are of musicians and actors, including several of the English actor Johnston Forbes-Robertson, and were sent to or obtained by Logan for his personal collection and in his capacity as a music critic and journalist.

Autographs

Subseries contains autographs of musicians, some of which are on concert programs. These concert programs also frequently contain annotations by J.D. Logan about the music performed. Most of the autographs would have been obtained from the musician directly by John Daniel Logan, with the exception of the autograph of the American pianist and composer Louis Morceau Gottschalk (1829-1869) and that of the French operatic soprano Marie Rôze Mapleson (1846-1926).

Photograph of Ralph Dunn and Black Mike standing together in Dawson City, Yukon

File contains a negative and a print of a photograph of and actor named Ralph Dunn standing with Black Mike, a man from Sarajevo, Serbia who claimed to be the oldest man in Dawson City. The two men are facing each other and Black Mike's hand is on Dunn's shoulder. Dunn was in Dawson City to act in a production called "Foxy."

Item, a photograph, includes director Ron Weyman near the tripod with the cigarette. The Cadillac and chauffeur were supplied by the Mersey Paper Co. Thomas Head Raddall is visible in the background in the pale shirt, standing near the car by the rails discussing his cameo with two extras. The photograph was taken at the Liverpool railway station, with "Port Seaforth" signs tacked over the real signs.

Prose and poetry manuscripts

File contains typed and handwritten poems and prose, largely written by Don Allison. There are also annotated copies of poems by Dylan Thomas and John Masefield; a small booklet of poems titled "Lighted Windows"; and a story by Roark Bradford called "Green Pastures," torn from a book. A photograph of a young woman standing in front of a pond is tucked into a notebook with "Don Smith" written on the cover.

Prose and poetry manuscripts

File contains poems and prose primarily handwritten in notepads and on single sheets on paper, including hotel stationary and the reverse pages of an ACTRA newsletter. There is also an exercise book containing ten pages of diary-like entries titled "Reflections of London, Merstham, Paris, Rome and places here and there from the head of a Nova Scotian, Canadian actor."
