Item is a photograph of the original building on the property of the Provincial Farm/School of Agriculture which burned down in 1898. This became the site of the Nova Scotia College of Agriculture, Harlow Institute is now on site. There is an octagonal swine barn that was built by students 1891 and was removed before 1913.

Written account of Henry Ford's donation to the Nova Scotia Agricultural College

Item is an account, unsigned but believed to have been written by Dr. Melville Cumming, in regards to the donation of a tractor by Henry Ford to the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1917. Mr. Ford had previously met then Premier the Honorable George H Murray and was introduced to Melville Cumming, Secretary for Agriculture and Principal of NSAC (1905-1927). There are annotations on the first page "Thanks very much - Len" and on the second page "He was here I understand on a trout fishing exhibition (expedition?)."

Item is a photograph of John Trueman. Trueman came to the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1913, Truro, N.S. as Professor of Agriculture (Animal Husbandry) and Farm Superintendent, a position he filled until 1926. In 1926 he was appointed the first Director of the Extension Service and served in that capacity until he was appointed, in 1927, Principal of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Truro, N. S., a position he held until 1936.

Item ia a photograph of Charles Eric Boulden, who held the dual positions of Principal of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and Provincial Animal Husbandman from 1941 to 1946. During this time he taught Animal Husbandry at the College and was one of the first to give formal lectures in Farm Management at that institution.

Item is a speech by Melville Cumming on September 16, 1957. The address was delivered on the occasion of the official opening of the men’s residence, Trueman House, and the naming of Cumming Hall, and the Harlow Institute.
