Phalia newsletter

Materials include copies of the newsletters Smoke Signals, produced by Poconowarriors in Pennsylvania, and The Brand, produced by the Chicago Hellfire Club; correspondence, pamphlets, and registration forms from Spearhead Leather/Denim Social club in Toronto; event notices and registration forms from East Coast Bears, based in Fredricton; correspondence from the Ottawa Knights; one registration form for the Toone Towne event held by Firedancers Texas ; and notices for TightRope events held between May and August, 1999.

File contains printouts from the TightRope website containing information about TightRope's purpose, membership rules and regulations, and events; two TightRope pamphlets; one certificate of participation in the McNab's Island Massacre 2000 awarded by TightRope to Mask and a thank you card from Mask; two certificate of participation awarded to TightRope by the Mr. Leather Ottawa-Hull organization for participation in their 1999 and 2001 contests; and correspondence between TightRope and Mr. Leather Ottawa-Hull.

Erotic gear catalogues; Toronto Pink Pages 1993

File contains one copy of the Spartacus Enterprises of Oregon catalogue, one copy of JT's Stockroom mail order catalogue, one copy of a retail price list of erotic accessories, and one copy of the 1993 Toronto Pink Pages directory of lesbian and gay businesses.

Spearhead bear weekend 1994 pin

File contains one pin produced for the Spearhead bear weekend, 1994, hosted by Spearhead leather and denim social club. Pin has a black background with a red spearhead and illustration of a bear in the centre, and red text along the bottom that reads "SPEARHEAD BEAR WEEKEND '94".

File contains posters for LGBT events in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.. File contains one poster for an AIDS Vigil held at Grand Parade in Halifax; one poster advertising viewings of the AIDS Memorial Quilt at Gorsebrook School in Halifax from 1990-11-30 to 1990-12-3; one poster for a vigil commemorating the one year anniversary of the Polytechnique Massacre held at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design on 1990-12-6; one poster for the Black and Blue Party hosted by Bad Boy Club Montreal in October, 1994; one poster for the We're Funny That Way in Toronto during April, 1990; one poster for the 1989 Seattle Queen City Cruise; and one poster for National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights held 1987-10-11.

Leather group policy and bylaw research materials

File contains bylaws and policies from various leather groups and organizations in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Documents include Mister Leatherman Toronto Policies and Judges Handbook, National Leather Contest Rules and Requirements and the Official Contestant Packet, Logistic notes, Bylaws from the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia, and the Constitution and Bylaws of the Ottawa Knights.

Leather community materials

Series contains materials collected by Al Stewart as part of his involvement with the Halifax-based TightRope leather brotherhood, which was established in the early 1990s, incorporated in 1997, and disbanded in 2007. Series also contains materials related to the Mr. Atlantic Canada Leather [MACLeather] organization, which operated between 1999-2010, and the leather community more broadly. Materials include TightRope administrative and financial records, correspondence, and promotional materials; event cards, flyers, posters, programs, and certificates of participation for TightRope events, MACLeather contests, and leather events across Canada and the United States; photographs of TightRope meet-ups, MACLeather contests, and other leather community events; web print-outs; issues of the Phalia newsletter published by Spearhead leather and denim club in Toronto; erotic gear catalogues; and one copy of the 2002 Men of Pumpjack calendar.
