Series comprises correspondence, contracts and curriculum vitae created and compiled by Murray Brown, documenting his employment history, in particular with Dalhousie University and Capital Health.

Series contains records created by Culverwell Holdings Limited between 1959 and 1983. Some records relate to land owned by Oland's Brewers Grain and Yeast and Lindwood Farms. Series is broken into four Sub-Series: Administrative, Correspondence, Financial, and Maps.

Administrative Sub-Series contains land agreements, property assessments and appraisals of land in Hants and Halifax Counties, and meeting minutes.

Correspondence Sub-Series contains correspondence regarding the sale of land to Clayton Developments Limited and regarding the Oland Family Trusts.

Financial Sub-Series contains financial statements and a general ledger.

Writing and research material of Barbara Hinds

Series contains material written by Barbara Hinds and material collected by Barbara Hinds for the purpose of research. Written material includes drafts of articles, newspaper clippings of articles, cutlines, press releases, scripts, manuscripts, presentations, and other documents written by Barbara Hinds for the Chronicle Herald and Mail Star, the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine, the Antiquarian Society, the Atlantic Advocate, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and other organizations. Research material includes newspaper clippings, photocopies, pamphlets, booklets, photographs, correspondence, and other documents.

Sound recordings created by Barbara Hinds

Series includes reel-to-reel tapes and cassette tapes of recordings made by Barbara Hinds. The recordings include recordings from Hinds’ trips to the Canadian Arctic, recordings made for a TV series, and other recordings. Most of the recordings are interviews. The series also includes Barbara Hinds' tape recorder in its canvas carrying case.

Barbara Hinds' photographs

Series contains photographs taken by Barbara Hinds, photographs of Barbara Hinds, or photographs related to Barbara Hinds’ activities. A large portion of the photographs were taken by Rosemary Gilliat Eaton during a trip to the eastern Canadian Arctic that Hinds and Gilliat completed together in 1960. Photographs are in the form of slides, negatives, proof sheets, and printed photographs. File also contains some written documents that accompany the photographs.

Personal notes of Barbara Hinds

Series contains the research notes and diaries of Barbara Hinds. Most of the research notes are written in notebooks and are associated with a particular topic that Hinds wrote newspaper articles about. Some of the research notes are written in shorthand. Most of the diaries are written in notebooks and are logs of Hinds’ travels, especially her trips to the Canadian Arctic. The series also contains three books about shorthand that belonged to Hinds.

Series contains correspondence to or from Barbara Hinds. The items include correspondence related to Barbara Hinds’ journalism, correspondence related to her activities at the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine, and personal correspondence. Some of the correspondence is accompanied by newspaper articles, manuscripts, or other documents that were sent to Hinds along with the letters.

Series includes documents related to Barbara Hinds’ involvement with organizations outside of her employment. The organizations represented in the series are the Emergency Committee for Ethiopian Relief, the Halifax Landmark Commission, and the Breeding Bird Survey.
