Personal papers of David Renton

Series contains information about individual actors, Renton's administrative contributions to organizing the 1987 Canada Games and the 1990 World Figure Skating Championships, conferences and workshops, festivals and showcases, Neptune Theatre, Nova Scotia Drama League, Portus Theatre Productions, theatre companies and university theatre departments, and committees, associations, and unions to which Renton belonged. Also included are clippings and publications (primarily theatre- and film-related), financial records and grant applications, memorabilia, production-related materials, programs and invitations, school-related materials, and contracts, resumes, and awards.

Series contains promotional posters for productions with which David Renton was associated. Series also contains two painted costume designs.

The Neptune Story

The series consists of correspondence relating both to research for and publication of the book, research notes, and interviews recorded on audio cassette regarding the history of Neptune Theatre, collected for the writing of The Neptune Story: Twenty-Five Years in the Life of a Leading Canadian Theatre ; photographs, messages, and tributes to Neptune Theatre included in the published work, can also be found here. As well, the series contains minutes of the meetings of the 25th Anniversary Committee of Neptune Theatre (of which Perkyns was a member), a draft copy of The Neptune Story , newspaper clippings, congratulatory notes, and a speech given at the book launch in 1989.

Damage Done: The Drug War Odyssey/Drug Warrior

Directed by Connie Littlefield, Damage Done was a documentary co-produced with the National Film Board of Canada. It featured interviews with current and former members of law enforcement who disagreed with the way in which the illegal drugs trade was policed and prosecuted. This feature film is a 95-minute comedy that tells the story of coming of age and wanting to go down the road and escape 1970s Cape Breton. This re-telling of a perennial Atlantic Canadian story is now told from the perspective of two girls and the challenges of actually leaving. It was also notable for being written by Tricia Fish as her first script after her year at the Canadian Film Centre. The film was co-produced by Imagex, directed by Allan Moyle, and starred Liane Balaban, Nicholas Campbell, Cathy Moriarty, Andrew McCarthy, Tara Spencer-Nairn, and Mary Walsh. New Waterford Girl was nominated for seven Genie Awards and won best Canadian and Nova Scotia features at the Atlantic Film Festival. It was also screened at film festivals in Berlin, New York, Rotterdam, Sundance, Toronto, and Vancouver. Series contains material relating to strategic planning, charitable, status, CRTC licensing for Women's Television network, and equipment inventory lists. Series also contains legal licencing agreements and service contracts, and minutes and reports from Board meetings and annual general meeting minutes. Executive meeting reports and minutes are also included in the series.

Programs developed and administered by the Women in Media Foundation

Series contains material relating to the promotion, development, and administration of the programs and workshops that were run by the Women in Media Foundation. Materials include completed evaluation forms from programs, curriculum material, script and teaching material, camp essays, and final reports. The majority of the correspondence is between Acadian Supply Co. and its clients and shareholders, discussing business, vessels, suppliers or accounts. Clients include the Town of Lunenburg, the Department of Fisheries and The Department of Transport. Suppliers include the Dominion Coal Company, Customold Plastics and Blue Coal Ltd.

Financial records of Acadian Supplies Company

This series contains a record book, financial statements and shareholder reports, a cash book, sales reports, inventory and an order book for the saw mill. The majority of the records are financial statements for both Acadian Supplies and Acadian Vessels listing their expenditures for the years they have been in operation.
