IBEW Local 1928 office staff

Subseries consists of administrative files used and/or created by staff in the IBEW Local 1928, including correspondence, reports, photographs, and surveys. The subseries includes records relating to the construction, lease, and insurance for the IBEW Local 1928 offices in the J.K. Bell Union Centre, Bayers Lake Industrial Park, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Strike

Subseries contains records from strike action taken by IBEW Local 1928, mostly against Nova Scotia Power. The records include correspondence, press releases, picket line schedules, and minutes of the Trial Board regarding the issuance of strike assessment fines to union members.

Gated communities in Canada : The planning response

Subseries contains records produced as a result of Jill Grant's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada grant to document the prevalence of gated communities in Canada and the nature of policy and planning responses to them.

Records include grant applications and reports, research ethics applications and reports, correspondence, notebooks, working papers, research data (interviews and surveys), photographs and participant consent forms. Records related to research output (publications and presentations) are primarily found in the publications series.

Fractures

Subseries consists of handwritten and typescript drafts of short stories included in Budge Wilson's anthology "Fractures: Family Stories." The short stories included in this anthology are as follows: "Like a water lily," "Two diaries," "Fathers," "Dreams," "Confusion," "Crybaby," "Mr. Manuel Jenkins," "My War," "Brothers and Sisters," "Carlotta's Search," "Mothers," and "The Metaphor."

Bone Cage correspondence

Sub-series contains correspondence regarding Bone Cage. Materials include letters and emails about the development of the script and cards congratulating Banks on the opening night of the co-production by Forerunner Playwrights' Theatre and Ship's Company Theatre.

Girls TV Camp

Sub-series contains material relating to the Girls TV Camp (later named Girls TV and New Media Camp) that was run by the Women in Media Foundation. Materials include completed evaluation forms from the program, curriculum material, script and teaching material, correspondence and reports.

Programming materials may also be inter-filed within other series.

Subseries contains records created by, submitted to, or created for the Joint Review Panel. These include documents regarding the formation of the panel, printouts of presentation slides, submissions to the panel, notes, meeting agendas, and other documents.

This internship program involved Canadian women gaining employment in the technical field. Files regarding the WTN-Internship may be interfiled within the administration, finance, and communications series.

IBEW Local 1928 apprenticeship training and education

Subseries comprises apprenticeship committees' minutes and reports; correspondence and teaching materials regarding apprentice education; and signed apprenticeship agreements between employers (i.e., Nova Scotia Power Corporation) and individual apprentices, along with correspondence outlining the terms and conditions of the agreements. The subseries also includes minutes from meetings of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee (JAC) between Nova Scotia Power Inc. and IBEW Local 1928.

Broken Vessel

Series comprises records regarding the development, writing, publishing and reception of Harry Thurston's book Broken Vessel: Thirty-five Days in the Desert, published by Gaspereau Press. Records types include correspondence; print manuscripts; notes; and published reviews.

Series includes web content collected from three websites created by or regarding Myers and his research. The websites are: Myers Lab, RAM legacy and Myers Stock Recruitment database as well as printouts of datasets used for Myers’ research. Web content was collected using ArchiveIt.
