Item is a photograph of the tent hospital at Arques, France, ca. 1917. A canal is in the background and officer tents can be seen through the trees. The hospital was later replaced by nissen huts.

Sister W.I. Thompson's Ward of German Prisoner's with Dr. Ells in Charge.

Photograph includes Nursing Sister W. I. Thompson on the right ; Nursing Sister S. Churchill; Nursing Sister J. A. Davidson; Nursing Sister S.A. Archard ; Nursing Sister C. S. Smith; Dr. Ells (located behind Sister Archard) and Dr. Banting (located behind Sister Thompson)who were both visiting the unit. Also included, Ned Clay, who took a lot of the photographs for the unit, he is located in front of the tent with a cigarette.

Back of photograph includes names and a note "Dr. Ells was with us that time as a transfer from Line Duty, formerly from Sheffields Mills, NS. Dr. Banting was visiting the unit."
