A total of 3,230,665 shares were listed of which some 49,000 shares were reserved for issuance under the employee's stock savings plan with the balance being held by some 12,000 shareholders. The company owned and operated the principal telephone service in the province of Nova Scotia. The company through the ownership of 56% of the common shares also controled the Island Telephone Company Limited which operated the princial telephone service in the province of prince Edward Island.
