Joseph Svoboda exhibition

File consists of records related to the Joseph Svoboda exhibition, held at Dalhousie Art Gallery from October 4-24, 1974.

Records consist of a list of artworks, press release drafts, newspaper clippings, photographs (photocopies), correspondence between Mern O'Brien (Director, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and Gerry Grace (Archives, National Arts Centre), condition report, invitation cards, and insurance documents.

File contains a joint copyright agreement between Christopher Heide and Al MacDonald; publishing contract and correspondence with Borealis Press; correspondence, contract and reviews for the 1998 Tantramar Theatre Festival production; notes, reviews and advertisements for the 1994 Lunenburg Dinner Theatre Company production; correspondence, contract and reviews for the 1980 Stages production; correspondence, contract and reviews for the 1984 Kam Theatre (Thunder Bay) production; and an annotated copy of the published script. There is also correspondence between Chris Heide and Rosemary Gilbert about the possibility of converting Pogie and No More Gasoline into television scripts. File also contains a chronology of events documenting the genesis and evolution of the script development and production.

File includes correspondence between Christopher Heide, Michel Fahey and Ed McKenna of the Mulgrave Road Co-op. There is also a letter written from Heide to Larry Lillo, at Tamahnous Theatre, Vancouver, as well as a chronology of events between September 1970 and March 1983 regarding the script's creation and possible remounting.

The Promised Land administrative records

File contains project grant applications and correspondence for Christopher Heide's "Poor People," which evolved into "The Promised Land," produced by Mulgrave Theatre in 1988. File also contains a tour schedule and contract between Christopher Heide and Mulgrave Road Co-op Theatre.

File includes records documenting Mulgrave Road Co-op Theatre's Working Theatre Project, which used theatre structures and methodologies with an adult education approach to literacy upgrading. Bird Cage : [Use of copyrighted material - translation]

File contains a letter from Catherine Banks to William Toye (Literary Executor) in 2004 asking permission to use a poem titled "Bird Cage" in the stage presentations of Catherine Banks' play, "Bone Cage" and a follow-up letter regarding the contract with Playwrights Canada Press for an April 2008 release. File also includes handwritten notes regarding "Bird Cage."

Nova Scotia tourism, culture and heritage grants to individuals application and related materials

File contains an application for Nova Scotia tourism, culture and heritage grants for Banks to travel to Barcelona in November 2012 to attend Connexio Canadenca and participate in rehearsals of Catherine Bank's play "It is Solved by Walking." The document includes project descriptions (adaptation of The Mountain and the Valley for the stage), budgets, support materials, reports, and a grant acceptance letter from Arts Nova Scotia.

Fonds contains correspondence, production records, scripts, flyers, posters, programs, promotional materials, press reviews, financial records, organizational management, documents regarding the theatre building and property, workshop programming, as well as touring production records. There is extensive correspondence regarding script acquisition and production; some correspondents included Canadian and Haligonian playwrights. Many scripts contain annotations by directors and actors. Set drawings, lighting cues, props lists and theatre renovation plans are also part of this fonds.

File contains an advertisement and pamphlet on the plays presented by the Stratford-upon-Avon Players at the Princess Theatre in Toronto as part of their first American Tour. Charles F. Towle was the business director of the tour.

File contains a letter from the English-born American actress Julia Marlowe Sothern thanking John Daniel Logan for sending her and her husband (E. H. Sothern) some of his poetry and inviting Logan to visit them backstage at one of their performances.
