Interview with Faith Nolan on her albums Africville and Sistership

File is an audio reel containing an interview with Faith Nolan on her albums Africville and Sistership. Hosted by Carol Millett of CKDU's radio program Women's Time, the interview contains recordings of her songs "Emancipation Day" from Africville and "Oh Freedom" from Sistership. The interview was aired in November 1986 and was rebroadcast March 8, [1987] at 3 pm; March 18, [1987]at 6 pm; May 30, [1987] at 4 pm; and November 25, 1997 on The Evening Affair, CKDU's evening public affairs program.

Manuscript - Last days of Jacob Street

File contains a draft manuscript written likely in the early-1970s (definitely after 1967) by William F. Dawson, about the area around Jacob Street in downtown Halifax, bulldozed to make way for the Scotia Square project (the Jacob Street area was deemed a waterfront slum). The manuscript discusses the parallels between the demolition of Jacob Street and that of Africville.

Notes about demographic information and other material

File contains notes, mostly handwritten, about a study on the forced migration of residents of Africville. The study was conducted by Don Clairmont and Dennis Magill in the late 1960s. The notes include lists of the addresses, names, incomes, and other demographic information about families who were relocated from Africville; information from a past survey; facts about Africville; and other notes about Africville. Many of the notes are written on the back of discarded typed documents.
