File contains one hand-painted banner produced or collected by the Gay and Lesbian Association (GALA). Banner is a white piece of fabric that features black and red text that reads "STRAIGHT but NOT NARROW" over top of a pink triangle.
File contains one banner produced or collected by the Gay and Lesbian Association (GALA), then called the Gay Alliance for Equality, for an unknown event in 1985. The banner is made of white fabric, and is drawn in the style of a Gaezette article. The banner features a drawing of a person standing in front of a windmill proclaiming with a headline that reads "Send a Dyke to Holland".
Fonds primarily contains records of the GayLine a phone helpline for LGBT Nova Scotians funding by GAE/GALA that operated between 1972-1996. In 1994 the name was changed to the Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Line. Fonds contains three series; one containing administrative and financial records, one containing recruitment and training materials, and one containing reference materials for volunteers. Materials include monthly and annual reports; meeting minutes; call logs and templates; staff notebooks; correspondence; pamphlets; volunteer training session materials, application forms and guidelines; flyers; legal briefs and resources; newsletters; essays; bibliographies; and directories.
File contains one copy of a resource list of feminist services and organizations in Halifax, co-sponsored by A Women's Place and the Halifax City Regional Library.
Subseries contains reference materials relating to the operations of other helplines, as well as information about LGBT businesses and services, community groups, and events in Halifax, across Canada, and in the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Oceania. Materials include advertisements and press releases, pamphlets, newsletters, flyers, information sheets, and directories.

Banner is painted on a white piece of fabric, and features pink text outlined in black that reads "PRIDE '95". Banner also features two black circles filled with pink triangles on either side of the text.

File contains a list of all members of the executive of the Gay Alliance for Equality [GAE] from 1985-1988, including positions and approximate terms. File also contains a first draft of Christians Assembled to Respond to AIDS (CARAS) "Brief to the Nova Scotia Task Force on AIDS".
File contains a list of gay and lesbian owned and operated bed and breakfasts, compiled by the owners of the Centre Town/Ville Bed and Breakfast and accompanying correspondence. This list features businesses that have chosen to take part in an informal business association called the Maritime Rainbow Connection.
Fonds contains graphic materials collected by Lynn Murphy through her association with the Gay and Lesbian Association (GALA) of Nova Scotia, and participation in organizing Halifax Pride marches and parades, in addition to other LGBT initiatives in Halifax. Fond contains one series of posters, banners, and flags produced or collected by GALA for use in Pride marches and parades, as well as other political demonstrations, GALA meetings, and dances, or relating to event held at Rumours bar. Fonds also contains posters for LGBT-related events in Halifax, posters for LGBT films, posters encouraging safe-sex practices and political activism, as well as Pride Guide mockups from 1996 and 1998.
File contains lists of materials needed for GayLine operations, and notes relating to GayLine's change of locations in 1987 and general operations, and correspondence regarding the 1986 budget proposal, and correspondence between Daniel Mackay and Pam Steele regarding GayLine operations dated 1986.

Films include the drama Longtime companion (1989), directed by Norman Rene; the documentary Forbidden love : the unashamed stories of lesbian lives (1992), directed by Aerlyn Weissman and Lynne Fernie; and the documentary Out : stories of lesbian and gay youth (1993), directed by David Adkin.
