Black Artists 1972

File consists of records related to the North American Black Artists exhibition organized by Dalhousie Art Gallery. The exhibition was shown at Dalhousie in November 1972.

Records consist of correspondence between Ernest Smith (Director, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and directors at Brockman Gallery, lists of slides, and letters to the artists requesting samples of artworks in slide form. Records also include four slides of artworks from Manuel Hughes (Professor Art Department, Florissant Valley Community College) and four from Benny Andrews.

Book work : form - function - finish in the modern craft of hand bookbinding

File consists of records related to the exhibition entitled "Book Work : Form - Function - Finish in the Modern Craft of Hand Bookbinding," organized and circulated by the American Guild of Bookworkers. The exhibition was presented at Dalhousie Art Gallery from February 20 to April 6, 1986. A lecture was held in conjunction with the Book Work exhibition entitled "The Conservation of Books and Bookbindings" by Mr. Emrys Evans on March 3, 1986.

Records consist mainly of correspondence. Also includes an invitation list for the exhibition opening, customs listing, news releases, six photographs of the exhibition display cases, and a pamphlet entitled "Book Work : Diversity & Standards in the Modern Craft of Hand Bookbinding" created by the Guild of Book Workers.

Cassandra's driftwood : cover

File contains a photograph of Marq de Villiers as a small child, wearing a pith helmet and holding a sand shovel, and a photograph marked on the back with "Marq's oupa [grandfather] looking at the dam [with] Terry and Jennifer, Leo's children." On Marq's website, this image appears with the caption: "With grandfather and sister, surveying the state of the world’s water, 1944."
