Robert Summerby was a member of the original class in Agriculture Ontario Agricultural College. He was a professor of Agronomy, from 1918-1946 at Macdonald College of McGill University. Agronomy was entitled Cereal Husbandry until 1921. Summerby occupied the Chair of Agronomy for many years and was Acting Dean during absence of Vice-Principal in Australia from July 30-October 26, 1938.
April 21 - August 31, 1945 he became acting Vice-Principal during illness of Dr. Brittain.
Campus is home to the Robert Summerby Memorial Greenhouse.
