File contains seven speeches made by Elisabeth Mann Borgese. Includes a speeach entitled "AALCC Introductory Remarks," made to the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, on seabed mining. The "Pittsburgh Lecture," a speech made by Borgese in honour of Rachel Carson, and discusses the international enterprises being built in the wake of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It also discusses Mann Borgese's work at the University of Chicago on the Committee to Frame a World Constitution. "Sustainable Development and Ocean Governance," discussing the example of China as a case study. "The Protection of the Marine Environment in the Case of War" a 1984 address to the International Law Academy, discussing the limitations of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLoS) in dealing with war. An untitled speech from 1991, given on behalf of the International Ocean Institute (IOI), and discussing the contiuing need for the UNCLoS. "Caird Medal Address," an acceptance speech from April 12, 2000. Finally, "The Future of the Mediterranean Area Environment and Environmental Education," a speech from October 1988.
