Biographical history
David Clark is a media artist who utilizes the internet as a cinematic format. Clark also uses an experimental narrative form within his media work. Clark is a professor in Media Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Clark’s education includes Fine Arts in 1984 at the University of Calgary, a BFA in 1985 at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and a MFA in 1989 from the School of Art Institute of Chicago

Biographical history
Seth Smith is a Nova Scotia-based artist, musician and filmmaker. Smith performs in the band Dog Day as the primary singer/songwriter, and has performed with them across North America and Europe. Smith became associated with the Centre for Art Tapes in 2002 because their video recording "Triage Burdocks" became a part of the centre’s tape collection.
Custodial history
The tape was donated to the Dalhousie University Archives in 2013 by the Centre for Art Tapes.

Item consists of a Centre for Art Tapes general member videos from 2002. The compilation features: "Triage Burdocks" (3 min., 30 sec.) by Seth Smith, and "The Difficulty of Being Gilbert" (9 min., 58 sec.) by David Clark. The tape features sign language.
