Administrative history

The Medical Society of Nova Scotia is the professional association representing all medical doctors in the province. It was established in 1854 and incorporated in 1861, therefore making it the oldest medical society in Canada.

The society encourages input from all medical doctors in Nova Scotia. It has fifteen Branch Societies, which provide an opportunity for physicians to address local and community issues. Sections, which are comprised of physicians with similar interests and concerns, serve as consulting bodies.

The Medical Society of Nova Scotia is a division of the Canadian Medical Association.

Custodial history
