Administrative history
The Medical Society of Nova Scotia is a division of the Canadian Medical Association. It was established in 1854 and incorporated in 1861, making it the oldest professional medical association in Canada. The society has fifteen Branch Societies to address local and community issues, and multiple Sections comprised of physicians with similar interests and concerns, which serve as consulting bodies.
Custodial history
Records were transferred from the Kellogg Health Sciences Library to the Dalhousie University Archives in accession (13-85) by Linda Harvery in 1985.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of records documenting a research project conducted in 1961 regarding distribution patterns of physicians and facilities across Nova Scotia; records include physician and patient questionnaires.
