Biographical history

Mary Jones was an avid theatre goer who collected programs from the various cultural events she attended. She was the wife of Robert O. Jones, a former professor of psychiatry and founder of the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University.

Custodial history

The collection was donated by Mary Jones in 1986.

Scope and content

The collection contains a variety of theatre and music programs from across Canada, with a special emphasis on events held in and around Halifax, Nova Scotia. There are also programs from England, United States, France and Russia. Programs date from 1937 to 1986 with a gap between 1941 and 1950.
