William Henry Smith, in the centre, passed away in 1955; Robert Butler, on the left, passed away in 1956; and Charles West is on the right.

One person is holding a pair of binoculars, while another uses navigational equipment. Mackay identifies the two men as HN (Hospitalman) Layard, and Lt. Rowland, of the Restigouche.
