File contains a photograph of Douglas Clarke (Dean of the Faculty of Music at McGill University from 1930 to 1955), Ellen Ballon, Frank Cyril James (Principal and Vice Chancellor of McGill University from 1939 until 1962), and an unknown man, standing in front of three microphones for radio stations: CKVL, CFCF, and CKAC. The photograph may have been taken at one of the concerts celebrating the 50th anniversary of the McGill Conservatorium.

File contains a photograph of "The Three Bares" sculpture (also known as the "Friendship Fountain"), which was given to McGill University by its creator, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, as a show of goodwill between the United States and Canada. Ellen Ballon met Whitney while in New York and reportedly suggested the donation of the sculpture. It was presented to the university in 1931 by New York Times editor John Finley in 1931.

Montreal museum lends I exhibition

File consists of records related to the Montreal Museum Lends I exhibition, organized and circulated by the National Gallery of Canada and presented at Dalhousie Art Gallery from September 15 to October 31, 1973.

Records consist of correspondence between Ernest Smith (Director, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and the National Gallery of Canada regarding transferring the exhibition. Records include a loan agreement, newspaper clippings, lists and pricelists of artworks, and packing lists.

File contains 11 proof sheets of 116 photographs taken during a trip to northern Quebec taken by Barbara Hinds in 1965. The photographs were taken in Fort Chimo, Povungnituk, Sugluk, and Wakeham Bay. Most of the photographs are of residents of those towns. The photographs also show houses, churches, other buildings, construction sites, boats, and cars. Each proof sheet has a sheet of paper attached to it with descriptions of each photograph.

File contains a diary kept by Barbara Hinds from September 6, 1965 to an unknown date. The diary is written in a small, six-ring binder with a plastic cover. The diary was kept by Hinds during a trip to Fort Chimo and other places in the eastern Arctic.

File contains 40 slides of photographs taken by Rosemary Gilliat during a trip to the eastern Canadian Arctic with Barbara Hinds in 1960. The photographs were taken in Cape Dorset, George River (Kangiqsualujjuaq), Port Burwell (Killiniq), and other locations in the eastern Canadian Arctic. The location of many of the photographs is not indicated. The slides show rock formations, vegetation on the tundra, Inuit sculptures, and other Inuit handicrafts.

The photographs show residents of these places, the surrounding landscapes, aerial views, buildings, and boats. The file also contains slides from other dates that may have been taken in Halifax or in other locations.
