Series comprises correspondence, committee records and reports created and collected during Joan Gilroy's tenure as a professor and director of the Maritime School of Social Work. Included are records related to the MSSW women's group and the Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work; records related to the MSSW's fiftieth anniversary; and a sub-series of records related to a Canadian/EU social work student exchange program in which Dalhousie participated and Joan Gilroy was a key figure.

International social work curriculum project in child abuse, protection and welfare

Sub-series contains files relating to a three-year joint project with the Maritime School of Social Work and schools of social work at Southhampton (UK), Hogeschool West-Brabant (Netherlands), University of Stockholm, University of Victoria and McMaster University, funded by the Canada/EU Program for Cooperation in Higher Education. Records include correspondence, memoranda and reports related to curriculum development, as well as files for exchange students for whom Joan Gilroy served as a faculty supervisor.
