Letter of support for Dr. Daniel Cobb Harvey from Archibald McKellar MacMechan to Edwin Laftus

Item is three sheets of paper. The first sheet is folded to make two additional pages. The letter is Archibald MacMechan's recommendation to Edwin Laftus, that Daniel Harvey should receive the position of lecturer in History at Dalhousie University. A P.S. note by MacMechan also recommends an article that Harvey wrote for the Rhodes Foundation.

Mater coronata : an ode with lyrical interlude

File contains two copies of "Mater Coronata," a poem written by John Daniel Logan "commemorating the founder, preceptors, scholars, and heroes of the University of Dalhousie College." It was recited at the reunion of the alumni on August 21, 1924 and published by the Alumni Association. One of the copies is inscribed to "Captain John S. Roper, B.A., M.A., LL.B., M.C." with a poem from Logan.

Item consists of two copies of a program from a special convocation for the opening of the Dalhousie Life Sciences Centre. The program contains the order of proceedings and transcripts of citations given during the presentation of honorary degrees to the Honourable Allan Joseph MacEachen, William Edward Ricker, George Isaac Smith, and Robert William Stewart.

File contains a scrapbook assembled by Ruth Marilyn (Goodman) Pink while she was a student at Dalhousie University. The scrapbook contains dance cards with attached pencils; schedules and memorabilia from freshman initiation; napkins from dinners; dinner programs; place cards; musical programs from the Dalhousie Glee Club and local Halifax orchestras; small metal charms and other decorations; tickets; envelopes containing remnants of flowers; and other memorabilia from events at Dalhousie and elsewhere in Halifax. The scrapbook also contains photographs of Goodman's friends at Dalhousie; Goodman's room in Shirreff Hall; other places on Dalhousie campus; vacations at a beach and in the Annapolis Valley; and other people and events from Goodman's time at Dalhousie.

The scrapbook also contains photographs of Ruth Goodman; Rose Goodman; Jeanette Goodman; Dalhousie gradautes in 1936; unidentified family and friends; White Point Beach; the Annapolis Valley; Pictou Lodge; Sydney; and other locations in Nova Scotia. A computer printout of an obituary for Alice Simensky (1918-2015) is tucked in the back of the scrapbook.
