Interview with Kevin Orr of the AIDS Committee of Toronto

File is an audio reel containing an interview with Kevin Orr of the AIDS Committee of Toronto while he was in Halifax for a meeting of the Canadian Public Health Association the previous year. CKDU's Ken Burke spoke with Orr about the privately managed education groups springing up across the country to inform people about AIDS. The AIDS Committee of Toronto was a model that helped form many others like it, including in Metro Halifax. The episode was recorded on January 14, 1987, and was broadcast on January 20, 1987.

Interview with Phil Shaw on Patient Zero

File is an audio reel containing an interview with Phil Shaw of the AIDS Committee of Toronto on Patient Zero (Gaetan Dugas), a Quebec man thought to be the first case of AIDS in the United States. He discusses the fear generated by the fact that Patient Zero lived in Toronto, and Dartmouth from 1977-1979, and journalist Randy Shilts' book claiming that Patient Zero was solely responsible for the spread of AIDS in North America. The interview was conducted by CKDU's Donna Mayer. The episode was recorded on October 15, 1987.
