The monument is in the sculptor's workshop, with two boxes and two blank stones behind it.

James Spencer Mitchell was born Jaunary 10, 1861, the son of James Mitchell and Mary Jackson. He was married first to Mary Cunningham and later to Mary Catherine McIntosh. Mitchell died February 24, 1952.
