Janet Conners fonds

Fonds contains materials related to Janet Conners' advocacy work for recipients of tainted blood products and other persons with HIV/AIDS. Janet's and her husband, Randy Conners, contracted HIV when Randy, a hemophiliac, was treated with infected blood. After publicly announcing Randy's diagnosis in 1991, the Conners provided testimony to the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the Blood System in Canada [the Krever Inquiry], and became advocates for persons living with HIV/AIDS. Janet revealed her HIV positive status upon Randy's death in 1994. Materials in fonds include legal documents, correspondence, speaking notes, press releases, day planners, awards and honorary degrees, and photographs.

File contains one photograph of Al Stewart taken at City Cycle motor shop, which he operated, one photograph of Mike Sangster's head superimposed onto a muscular man's body, and personal correspondence between Al and Mike and their friends.

Wilson Hodder photographs, correspondence, and celebration of life programs

File contains materials related to the life and passing of Wilson Hodder. Hodder was a prominent LGBT activist in Nova Scotia, who successfully petitioned for spousal survivors benefits for same-sex couples under the Canada Pension Plan following the passing of his partner, Terry Martin.

File contains 30 colour photographs taken by Hodder of the 1998 Ottawa Pride parade, three photographs of Hodder and friends, correspondence between Hodder and Mike Sangster, two copies of the program from Hodder's celebration of life, and two program inserts.

Fonds also contains one photograph of Dr. Hattie and Reverend Young following a Safe Harbour service.

Fonds contains the personal papers, photographs and sound recordings of Barbara Hinds. The personal papers primarily comprise research material, article drafts, and newspaper clippings related to Hinds' journalism career, but also correspondence, research notes, diaries, maps and manuscripts. Sound recordings were largely created during Hinds' travels in the Canadian Arctic and include several interviews. Photographs include prints, slides, negatives and proof sheets, and were mostly taken in the Canadian Arctic, but also include research and personal photographs.

Talbot; several typed drafts of newspaper articles about the rehabilitation centre; a pamphlet about the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre; and a document called "Preliminary Report on Planning for Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Center and Faculty of Allied Health Professions Dalhousie University." The file also includes newspaper clippings from the Chronicle-Herald and Mail-Star of articles written by Barbara Hinds about the rehabilitation centre.
