The side is inscribed: Pte. Donald Vincent MacDonald 716128.26.BAT. Killed in action in France Aug. 28, 1918 aged 21. Yrs. We are the dead short days ago we loved felt dawn saw sunset glow loved and were loved and now we lie in Flanders fields". Part of a building in visible at one edge.
