Series comprises photographs of Henry Hicks taken primarily during his years as a professional politician and university president, and includes both portraits and images of him with others at receptions, meetings, convocations ceremonies and other occasions. There are also some earlier family pictures and photographs taken during his time in the military.
File contains a photograph of two Black Nova Scotian soldiers, posed standing in army uniforms with caps and crops, most likely members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) No. 2 Construction Battalion. The No. 2 was raised in Truro, Nova Scotia, in 1916, and was the only Canadian battalion composed of Black soldiers in Canadian military history.
