Item is a photograph of three docked ships: the Dunbar Castle, which weighed 925 tons, and was built in Sunderland, England in 1864; the Borden Chief, which weighed 1011 tons, and was built in South Shields in 1870; and the Duke of Sutherlans, which weighed 1047 tons and was built in Aberdeen in 1865.

Commodore Bruce S.C. Oland presenting a painting to Commander K.M. Young to commemorate his past three years of service to the Naval Reserves

At the Annual Conference of the commanding officers of naval reserve units held in Halifax 21-23 October, Commodore B.S.C. Oland, senior Naval reserve adviser, (shown at left) presented a painting on behalf of the 16 naval reserve unit commanding officers, to Commander K.M. Young, to commemorate his past three years of service to the Naval Reserves. Commander Young has been posted to serve of Commanding Officer, HMCS Saguenay.
