File is a portrait with biography of Harry Goudge Grant. Accompanying text: Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S. HARRY GOUDGE GRANT, M.D., C.M., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., Dr. Harry Goudge Grant was born in Halifax on June 25, 1889. After preparatory schooling in that city, he entered Dalhousie University, graduating M.D., C.M., in 1912. Post-graduate study prior to settling in Halifax in 1920. A keen interest in Public Health, with which he keeps in touch as Professor of Preventive Medicine, took him to Virginia in 1925. There he remained in charge of County Health work until appoint to his present post in 1932. Dr. rant is currently President of the Association of Canadian Medical Colleges. Died 1954. Secretary of the Medical Society of Nova Scotia 1933-1954.
File contains three portraits of Arthur Stanley MacKenzie. The portraits include a reproduction of a painting by H. Harris Brown; a caricature-style drawing; and a newspaper clipping of a portrait of Mackenzie by Wyly Grier.
Item is a photograph of Allister Duncan McDonald, born August 2, 1892 in Sunny Brae, and his wife, Ida Pearl Giffin (1894-1951). The couple had no children, and McDonald died in 1963 in New Glasgow.
File contains an autographed photograph of the Montreal-born opera singer Louise Edvina Edwardes (nee Martin), known by her stage name "Madame Edvina." File also contains a print of Louise Edvina in costume from the opera "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini. Logan's notes on the reverse side of the print and at the bottom of the photograph indicate that she was known for her creation of the title role of Louise in an opera by Gustave Charpentier.
File contains photographs of Lester Hattie, who was born circa 1913, and married Beth Whiteway. They had three children, Scott, Jeannie, and Stewart. Hattie died May 16, 2004 in New Glasgow.
Series comprises photographs of Henry Hicks taken primarily during his years as a professional politician and university president, and includes both portraits and images of him with others at receptions, meetings, convocations ceremonies and other occasions. There are also some earlier family pictures and photographs taken during his time in the military.
File contains two photographs of the operatic soprano Esther Ferrobini of the Montreal Opera Company that John Daniel Logan used for a press release about her performance in the title role of the opera "Zoza."
File contains three photographs of the opera singer Christie MacDonald of the Montreal Opera Company. One of the photographs shows her in costume for "The Spring Maid" by Heinrich Reinhardt, and another in costume as Marguerite for the "Jewel Song" in "Faust" by Charles Gounod for the Montreal Opera Company.
File contains photographs of Alice Elizabeth Ballantyne's wedding. In the 11th photograph, the group from the left to right in the front row: unknown; Agnes McQueen Ballantyne (married to a McNutt); Annie Weir Ballantyne (married to Kjell Henriksen); bride Alice Elizabeth Ballantyne (becoming Mrs. Porter); Marjorie Ballantyne; and Janet Weir Ballantyne (bride's aunt). From left to right int he back row: Bob Ross (groom's cousin); James Porter (groom's brother); unknown; John Wren Ballantyne (1926-1983); and Wyndham David Ballantyne (father of aforementioned Annie Weir, Marjorie, Agnes McQueen, John Wren, and bride Alice Elizabeth Ballantyne).
