Louis Stokes : alchemy spirals

File consists of records related to the exhibition of works by sculptor Louis Stokes entitled "Alchemy Spirals," presented at the Dalhousie Art Gallery from January 31 to February 24, 1980.

Records are divided into 6 folders: folder 9 - administrative files; folder 10 - grant application; folder 11 - report; folder 12 - publicity and advertising; folder 13 - financial; folder 14 - photographs.

- foler 9 'administrative files' contains proposed outline, biography, resume, exhibit agreement, correspondence, packing instruction, and transportation.
- folder 12 'publicity and advertising' contains advertising, clippings, reviews, exhibition texts, exhibition pamphlet, and catalogue order.
- folder 13 'financial' contains insurance, budget, payment, invoices, expenses (business records), final expense report.

Photographs of 20th Century Student

File contains four photographs taken by Peter Dykhuis of the sculpture "20th Century Student" by Reg Dockrill. The sculpture was erected on the corner of Uni­versity Avenue and Seymour Street in 1968 and removed in 2012 after an engineering report con­cluded that the six-metre-high steel sculpture had corroded on the inside and was “structurally damaged beyond repair."

File contains photographs, invitations, and other documentation about Eyelevel Gallery artists and programming from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Artists documented in the file include Kenneth Coutts-Smith, Richard Robertson, Michael Fernandes, Jan Meyerowitz, James MacSwain, Rita McKeough, and others. File also includes small scrapes of paper and sticky notes with references to the original location of the documentation in the Gallery.
