Article for Canadian Theatre Review

File contains a draft submission to Canadian Theatre Review and correspondence between Mary Vingoe and Deborah Cottreau, guest editor. The publication solicited a 1,500 word article on the Eastern Front Theatre's recent and past work in the areas of dramaturgy in the Maritimes. Vingoe wrote an article that describes her personal approach to dramaturgy. File also includes a b&w promotional photograph of Mary Vingoe.

File consists of records relating to the organization, planning, and preparation for the exhibition 'Aspects of 19th and 20th Century European Art', which was presented at the Dalhousie Art Gallery in 1981. The files are mostly related to Gentleman Collection Part IV: Raoul Dufy, held from May 7 to July 5, 1981 but also contain documents regarding Part I, II, and III of a series of this exhibition.

Aspects of realism

The file consists of records related to the planning of the exhibition " Aspects of Realism," held at the Dalhousie Art Gallery from August 18 to September 18, 1977. The exhibition was sponsored by Rothman's of Pall Mall Canada Ltd.

Records consist of correspondence, newspaper clippings, a tour schedule, a floor plan, interdepartmental memos, invoices and and other administrative documents. Also includes photographs of the opening of the exhibition and invitation cards.

File contains articles by Joyce Barkhouse (and others) for the Wesley Knox United Church, including "For Mothers and Others"; the announcements of the Thomas H. Assorted documents and photographs of Joyce Barkhouse

File includes a letter to children's author Claire MacKay and copies of publications that include stories by Joyce Barkhouse, including Hi Venture magazine and the Canadian Children's Literature journal. The file also includes photographs of Blomidon, King's County, Nova Scotia and the Town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, in addition to copies of poems, birthday invitations, an edited biography of Joyce Barkhouse from the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia website, and family history documents.

File contains correspondence, promotional materials, newspaper clippings, programs and notes related to the Atlantic Camera Trio and other groups with which Stephen Pedersen performed.

Augustus John exhibition - Edmonton Gallery

File consists of records related to the Augustus John exhibition organized and circulated by the National Gallery of Canada. The exhibition was shown at Dalhousie Art Gallery in November 1972.

Records consist of a copy of press clippings, attendance reports, loan agreement forms, catalogue orders, lists of artworks, and correspondence between Ernest Smith (Director, Dalhousie Are Gallery), Mark Holton (Curator, Dalhousie Are Gallery) and Ralph Allen (Director, Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Queen's University). In addition, records also include a photograph of a painting "On the Slopes of Arling Jack."

Autographed photograph of Clara Butt-Rumford

File contains an autographed photograph of Clara Butt Rumford (1872-1936), an English contralto. She toured with her husband, Kennerley Rumford throughout Europe and America. This photograph was likely attained by John Daniel Logan during their extended world tour (1912-1914), which encompassed Canada, the United States, and Australia.

File contains an autographed photograph of the Canadian violinist, teacher, conductor, and composer Frank Edward Blachford (1879-1957) addressed to Dr. J.D. Logan in appreciation of his writing on music in Toronto.

File consists of records relating to an exhibition entitled Backgrounds: Ten Nova Scotian Women Artists, presented at the Dalhousie Art Gallery from October 4 to November 11, 1984. The artists that participated in this exhibition were Frances Bannerman, Marion Bond, Elizabeth Cann, Mabel Killam Day, Elizabeth Nutt, Florence Payzant, Tony Saulnier, Margaret Semple, Edith Smith, Ruth Wainwright, and Marguerite Zwicker.

Records consist mainly of insurance files, correspondence, loan agreement forms, and photographs.

Batik tapestries by Louis Steyn

File consists of records related to the exhibition 'South African Batik Tapestries by Louis Steyn' presented by The Art Gallery, Memorial University, Newfoundland and organized in collaboration with Gallery 101, Johannesburg. The exhibition was presented at the Dalhousie Art Gallery in October 1967 and again in April 1970.

Records consist of correspondence between Evelyn Holmes (Acting Curator, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and Peter Bell (Curator, Memorial University), and purchasers of works in the exhibition, an excerpt of the Peter Wenger exhibition catalogue titled 'Some Notes on Batik', a photograph of an installed tapestry and gallery visitor, two draft catalogues, a copy of South African Scope containing a feature on Steyn's work on p. 6-7.

File consists of records related to the North American Black Artists exhibition organized by Dalhousie Art Gallery. The exhibition was shown at Dalhousie in November 1972.

Records consist of correspondence between Ernest Smith (Director, Dalhousie Art Gallery) and directors at Brockman Gallery, lists of slides, and letters to the artists requesting samples of artworks in slide form. Records also include four slides of artworks from Manuel Hughes (Professor Art Department, Florissant Valley Community College) and four from Benny Andrews.
