Administrative history

Services of the Division of Adult Education began as the regional library system. In September, 1946, the province's adult education activities were re-organized by the formation of an Adult Education Council. This network of libraries included film libraries, film councils and rural film circuits, some facilities for travelling art exhibitions, and occasional instruction in crafts, music and drama. The Division of Adult Education brought new financial support for the work, increased status to this form of education, and provided a direct means of communication with all other branches of government. Services included putting books in the hands of adults, the Farm Radio Forum was established Provincially.
