Name of creator
Herman Clide Fillmore (1893-1977) was an activist with the Maritime Communist Party. He was born in Lumsden, New Brunswick on March 14, 1893 to parents Beverly Wellington Fillmore and Ada Bertha Tingley. Fillmore married Lilian Chapman in London, England on April 25, 1919. They had two children: Dorothy Fillmore (who died at the age of four) and Marion Betty Fillmore. Fillmore worked in the lumbering industry and was an active organizer for the Maritime Communist Party. He died on June 12, 1977.
The manuscript was donated to Dalhousie University in 1976 by Steve Hall.
Scope and content
This fonds consists of a photocopy of a single manuscript called "My Memoirs." The memoirs focus largely on Fillmore's family history and the early period of his life prior to his involvement with the Maritime Communist Party.
Some of the pages are slightly faded.
