Biographical history

Steve Tittle is a Canadian composer and teacher. He studied composition at Kent State University with Harold Miles, John White and Fred Coulter, and at the University of Wisconsin with Hilmar Luckhardt, Robert Crane and Burt Levy. In 1970, he joined the teaching staff at Dalhousie University, where he became an associate professor of composition and theory in 1990. He was the founder of the Dalhousie Experimental-Electronic Sound Studio and the improvisation ensemble, Murphy's Law. He was the co-founder of the music ensemble, Upstream, and performed regularly with this group. His compositions include commissions for Upstream, Symphony Nova Scotia, CBC Radio, the Kronos Quartet, Scotia Festival, and Dalhousie University.

Clancy Dennehy was born in Winnipeg, and is a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Dennehy currently resides in Vancouver, and is a filmmaker and photographer. Dennehy was associated with the Centre for Art Tapes in 1984 to 1986 because of his involvement with audio recordings for the Audio by Artists Festivals.

Dan Lander was born in 1953 in Oshawa, Ontario and educated at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. During his education, Lander focused in performance, video and sound. Lander became associated with the Centre for Art Tapes in 1984 because of his involvement with a video recording entitled “2 videos by Halifax independent producers” which became a part of their tape collection.
