Immediate source of acquisition

Materials were donated to the Agricola Archives in one accession by Jeff Morton April 16, 2014 (accession number A2014-011 / 2014.011). The materials were collected by Ian Christie from Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland. Ian was a visiting guest lecturer and has an association with the 16th Earl of Dalhousie (Simon Ramsay) in Brechin Castle. Simon Ramsay is the direct descendant of George Ramsay (9th Earl of Dalhousie/Lord Dalhousie) and currently holds the name Lord Dalhousie.
Ian has an alpine nursery and helps the Lord and Lady Dalhousie manage their gardens especially the snowdrops. There are many plants named for Dalhousie’s through a long association with gardening and plant exploring.
