Administrative history

Demi monde was a band based in Toronto who existed from 1986 to 1988. Marion Lydbrooke played the saxophone and performed the vocals, Elaine Stef played guitar, Susan Sturman played guitar and performed the backing vocals, Gaby Van der Velde played the bass, and Rita McKeough played drums. Rita McKeough's website states the origin of Demi monde: “Rita McKeough and Gaby Vandervelde came from Calgary in 1986 from the band Mode d’emploi. Elaine and Marion had played together in Vancouver in the Moral Lepers and Susan Sturman from Recorded in Toronto 1987 with Michael Phillip Wojewoda.”

Custodial history

The tape was donated to the Dalhousie University Archives in 2013 by the Centre for Art Tapes.
