Scope and content
File contains 1 album of sketches (13 sheets) in pencil, ink, and watercolour, size 26x36 cm; and 1 album of sketches (25 sheets) in pencil, crayon, and watercolour, size 31x46 cm. Sketches depict landscapes, people, flowers, rocks, etc. Notes from Helen Hendry refer to sketch numbers (written verso lower-left corner) in album titled "1978" and are as follows: SKETCH 4: "Looks like Alan's mother Harriet ("Hat")." SKETCH 5: (left figure) "Probably Alan's "Aunt Hully" (Helen) Hendry; (center figure) "Probably Aunt Laleah Hendry."; (right figure) "Possibly Marge??" SKETCH 6: "This may be young Norman." SKETCH 7: "Appears to be a reworking of pencil sketch "Sunday Morning R.A. and W.A. Hendry 1927" in cream colour album. These are Ralph and Will Hendry, first cousins of Alan + Norm + Marge + Lee." SKETCH 8: "Appears to be a later reworking of the 1925 pencil sketch in the cream coloured album labeled "People - 1925 - 1930"." SKETCH 11: (top-left) "The original pencil sketch (which is in my possession) says "R.A. Hendry, July 1921." (This was my father)." (bottom-right) "On another, similar, sketch in my possession, Alan has written "Will writing to Frances Mar. 13, 1927." (Frances later became his wife) (This Will Hendry is Alan's cousin). (center) "These two men are brothers, first cousins of Alan. Alan obviously redid the sketches together in this page at a later date."
