Scientific Journals

James Dinwiddie's scientific journals were written between 1776 and 1805. The collection includes several volumes of "Queries and Hints", a journal that provides questions and answers to various topics in science. Dinwiddie also included volumes of "Queries and Hints" in music and fermentation. Individual journals exist for other topics including astronomy, magnetism and electricity, and optics.

Scripts

Series consists of original scripts of the Gargoyle Puppet Theatre's plays. The scripts are those made for the theatre's live performances as well as those made for the appearances on the Atlantic Television System. The scripts are primarily written by James MacSwain, with some written by Karen Schlick and Sandy Moore.

Budgeting and accounting

This series contains materials regarding Centre for Art Tapes budgeting and accounting. Records include statistical profiles, invoices, correspondence, financial statements, audits and unaudited financial statements.

Affiliations

This series represents affiliations that Local 625 had with various electrical, construction, or labour associations and organizations. The extent of the affiliation varies; Local 625 was heavily involved with associations such as the Mainland Nova Scotia Building & Construction Trades Council, while other affiliations consisted only of the business manager's participation, such as the Voluntary Planning Forum. Any pertinent information pertaining to regional or national labour conventions or trade shows is also included in this series.

Education and Training

This series documents the Local's efforts to educate its membership, or to provide access to education opportunities, in order for apprentices to become journeymen or for journeymen to up- grade their skills. These documents are representative of apprenticeship committees set up for the purpose of designing and implementing apprenticeship courses, the details and enrollment in apprenticeship courses, complaints regarding employers' infractions of apprenticeship policies, scholarships offered to the Local's membership, and all enrollment and course-related information for any other classes offered to the Local's membership, either through the Local or from an

Finances of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 625 (Halifax)

This series represents the extent of the finances, accounts, benefits, and investments of the Local. The Board of Trustees, composed of IBEW members, employer representatives, and financial consultants and which oversaw the Local's pension and benefit funds, is represented in this series by minutes of meetings, notices, and correspondence. Documents related to hardship loans, which were made available to unemployed members of the Local in order to help alleviate the expense of dues, are included in this series, although all other dues-related documents are located in the Administration series. Documents such as correspondence and promotional material related to the Local's charitable activities, including associations with the IWK Children's Hospital and the Foster Parents' Plan of Canada, are also contained within this series.
