Item is a videocassette of a guest lecture by Janis Kief, a social worker with seniors in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He discusses the inverse relationship between the availability of therapy and those who most need it getting service. The video was created for use in the Dalhousie Medical School curriculum. The video was requested by Dr. Ruderman from the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology.

Public Health Clinic

Subseries comprises records created or collected by the Office of the Architect and Facilities Management at Dalhousie University related to the design and construction of the Public Health Clinic, variously called the Public Health Centre and the Dalhousie Medical Clinic. The building was designed by Halifax architect Andrew Randall Cobb, built between 1922 and 1924. and renamed the Clinical Research Centre ca. 1967.

Labelled Job No. K144, Sheet Nos. 1-12, the drawings include a footings and drainage plan; floor plans; roof plan; wiring plans; and elevations. There is also a front elevation titled "Dalhousie Medical Clinic -- Completed Scheme."

Item consists of an annotated typescript copy of Carleton Stanley's address at the Community Chest luncheon meeting, held at the Lord Nelson Hotel, Halifax, on October 30, 1933, discussing the problems faced by charitable organizations since 1929 -- "[though] I am not advising any of you to take a pair of thumbscrews along with you on your canvass [for charitable contributions]" -- and the growth of the Halifax Public Health Clinic.
