Scope and content

File contains 215 photographs taken by Bill Freedman at a variety of locations, including Aylesford Lake, NS, and Halifax County, between 1980 and 1995. Photographs show experimental and conventional clear-cutting examples at Aylesford Lake, Nova Scotia; advanced regeneration after a burn near Herring Cove, Nova Scotia; views of Pebbleloggitch Lake, Kejimkujik National Park; different rates of growth of trees of different ages; felling, bucking and sorting of Acer saccharum, and examples of throughfall and stemflow. Also includes examples of herbicide efforts.

General note

Slide boxes and binders were discarded during archival processing.

Signatures note

Most slides were originally held in a tan metal slide box with handwritten label: "Sudbury Forestry". They were stored in compartments 21-30, titled "Bird plots", "Herbicide", "Experimental Clear-Cut", "Hydrology", and "Biomass", as per Freedman's penciled location key. About a quarter of the slides were stored in archival plastic sleeves titled "Forestry", and found in an untitled black three ring binder. Most of the Nova Scotia material was found in an untitled, small clear plastic slide case.
