Biographical history

Irving Thomas Deale was born in Elmsvale, Nova Scotia, on 27 September 1943. He was a 1971 graduate of the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in Halifax, after which he did post-graduate work in pediatric nursing. Deale worked with the neurosurgery unit at the Victoria General Hospital and was an active member of NSGEU for more than two decades. He died on 6 February 1997 in Halifax.

Custodial history

Records were donated to Dalhousie University Archives by Irving Deale and Niels Jannasch in accessions (77-84) and (27-85) in 1984 and 1985 respectively.

Scope and content

Collection consists of documents, photographs, correspondence and manuscripts relating to Irving Deale's research on the Mary Celeste.
