Interviews with miners

Series contains recorded interviews with miners who worked at coalfields in Joggins and Springhill, Nova Scotia. Interviews were conducted by Ian McKay. Series also contains notes from each interview.

Teaching records

Series contains records produced in the course of Jill Grant’s teaching at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and Dalhousie University. Records include course outlines and syllabi, lecture and presentation notes, assignments and exams, slides and photographs, and a limited volume of student work. This series is divided into subseries by course title; much of the material was removed intact from teaching binders and illustrates the evolution of courses taught over a range of years.

Series contains audio reels from the CKDU radio 88.1 program Learning About AIDS. This is a two part program prepared by CKDU's city reporter, Donna Mayer, and outlines the dangers of AIDS, safe sex, and the hysteria and discrimination that revolves around it. The series was run for the first time in January of an unknown year.

The Word is Out

Series contains audio reels from the CKDU radio 88.1 program The Word is Out, a weekly lesbian and gay public affairs series. This show was listed in 1993 as Metro's only lesbian and gay radio show, and played on CKDU's program The Evening Affair. The Word is Out was hosted by Connie Clark, Brenda Barnes, and Dan Hart, among others, and included interviews from Donna Mayer and Nathan Elling. It was produced and created by Halifax locals, and covered news, reviews, and more.

Dalhousie University Libraries human resources

Series comprises records related to job descriptions, personnel appointments and performance, and includes records types such as correspondence, reports and reviews. Human resource-related committee records are found in the Dalhousie University Libraries committee and task force series.

Archives administration

Series contains administrative records created and maintained by the University Archives in areas such as human resources; grant funding; archives-related reports, surveys and policies; and unit reviews.

Projects and working groups

Series consists of records produced from the research and committee work of the staff of IPA/Henson College. Within the series are research notes and drafts for papers, finished papers, minutes from various meetings related to projects, correspondence directly related to projects and committees, grant applications, speeches, financial statements, agendas, and materials such as questionnaires and interview questions used to gather information for policy research. The content and nature of various projects and working groups undertaken by IPA/Henson College indicate the organisation’s interest in a few key areas, particularly public health, marginalised social groups, education, trade, and industrial relations. Most studies were carried out in the Maritime region, especially in Nova Scotia, and many in the Halifax region. Some of the projects include interviews with individuals and a great deal of personal information. Many of these records were provided code names by the researchers, and most such records are closed to the public.

Series contains Jill Grant's records from the Joint Review Panel for the Whites Point Quarry and Marine Terminal Project. Materials include the project's environmental impact statement, transcripts from scoping meetings and public hearings, records of the Joint Review Panel, reference and research materials, correspondence, maps and photographs, and other records. The series provides a comprehensive record of the activities of the Joint Review Panel, which was made up by Jill Grant, Robert Fournier and Gunter Muecke.

Records relating to the regional and national activities of the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick branches of the National Farm Radio Forum

Series contains records related to the operations of the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Farm Radio Forum branches and their contributions to the the National Farm Radio Forum from 1937-65. Records include pamphlets, scripts, correspondence, memos, newsletters, guides, National Secretaries report, annual reports from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick regions, and minutes from the regional and national meetings and conferences.
Some of the records were created and collected by Longly and C.A. Douglas, as well as regional secretary Rosemary Campbell.
The National Farm Radio Forum was a national rural listening-discussion group project sponsored by the Canadian Association for Adult Education, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and CBC. Initially, this program was a dramatized discussion of farm problems in wartime, arranged in cooperation with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, and the Canadian Association for Adult Education. Eventually, it evolved into discussions by individuals from various communities across the country. The program was developed by Orville Shugg and Neil Morrison.

Gordon Kinsman's berry research records

Series contains papers, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reproductions of articles, photographs, and signs created and collected by Gordon Kinsman during his research of berries, specifically strawberries, the strawberry industry, berry box making, and blueberries in Nova Scotia between 1891 and 1993.
