The photograph was taken while Raddall was on a local cruise from Liverpool, Nova Scotia to Port Mouton Bay during the summer of 1946. The yacht, Ripple, was owned by Reverend John ("Sailor John") Wilson of Trinity Church, Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
