Annual and monthly reports

Series consists of annual and monthly reports of the Halifax Visiting Dispensary. The reports contain minutes of the annual meetings, directors' and secretaries' reports, reports of the medical board, dental reports, data about prescriptions filled, year-end financial statements, and lists of the dispensary officers. The series also includes an agenda created for the 1964 annual meeting, the directors and summarized reports for 1960 year-end, and the secretary's and summarized report for 1961 year-end.

Andrew Merkel's correspondence

Series comprises correspondence with friends, colleagues and publishers as well as manuscripts solicited by Merkel from other journalists about their reminiscences of life and work in the Halifax Bureau and/or about aviation for AIR (Atlantic Radio and Aviation).

Series consists of records documenting the administrative, creative, and financial activities of this project. The project was a potential feature film to be based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Parkhill. This series contains biographies, correspondence, a script, notes, a draft budget, and location images.

A.M. Smith and Company's printed material

This series contains a variety of information related to operations at A.M. Smith and Company, but not created by the company. This includes newspaper clippings, blueprints, manuals procedures and regulations, conference proceedings, reference books, and a scrapbook on fishing (which is composed primarily of newspaper and magazine clippings, and correspondence).

This series contains a variety of photographs relevant to A.M. Smith and Company. They mostly include ships and views of buildings including A.M. Smith and Co. premises at Halifax, NS and other locations including Prospect, NS, and Newfoundland. There are also an assortment of photographs of individuals, including Fletcher S. Alexander Kerr's print and publication records

Series contains published works by Alexander E. Kerr, primarily on religious subjects. There is also a large volume of Christian literature as well as pamphlets from his travels in Canada. Other records include Dalhousie University pamphlets and programmes.

Alexander Kerr's notes and sermons

Series contains notes and sermons (typewritten and handwritten) by Kerr on loose pages or in notebooks. There are several complete and draft sermons on various themes, and almost all of the material is of a religious nature.

Alan Creighton photographs

Series consists of photographs in black and white, sepia, and colour of various subjects, including the Creighton family and outdoor/nature scenes. Many of the albums of photographs were likely used as inspiration or reference for Alan's paintings. The photographs were taken in Nova Scotia and in Ontario.

Air Guitar in Oulu : [film production records]

Series consists of records documenting the creative and legal activities of this project. This quirky one-hour documentary directed by Kent Sobey follows Andrew Buckles on his journey to Oulu, Finland to compete in the World Air Guitar Competition. The film was produced between 2002 and 2003 for Bravo!, and the Independent Film Channel. Geoffrey Turnbull was producer and Chris Zimmer was Executive Producer. Cinematography was done by Les Krizsan. Air Guitar in Oulu received attention from international media and has been compared to such acclaimed films as Project Grizzly and American Movie. This series contains agreements,, a synopsis, and a production overview.

AIDS-related health and legal advocacy

Series contains materials produced or collected as part of Larry Baxter's involvement with community HIV/AIDS organizations in Nova Scotia, including AIDS Nova Scotia [formerly MACAIDS], the Nova Scotia Persons With AIDS Coalition [NSPWAC], and the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia [ACNS]. Materials in this series document health and legal advocacy efforts for persons with HIV/AIDS, including research, lobbying, and community events.

After Dresden

Series consists of records documenting the administrative, creative, financial, legal, and publicity and advertising activities relating to this project. This potential dramatic feature film was developed with writer David Vainola. It was about a young man searching for his family and his home, taking up residence in a family estate in rural England without revealing his identity. This series contains correspondence, development agreement working files, development schedule, notes, reports, scripts, synopses, and one-sheets.

Affiliations

This series represents affiliations that Local 625 had with various electrical, construction, or labour associations and organizations. The extent of the affiliation varies; Local 625 was heavily involved with associations such as the Mainland Nova Scotia Building & Construction Trades Council, while other affiliations consisted only of the business manager's participation, such as the Voluntary Planning Forum. Any pertinent information pertaining to regional or national labour conventions or trade shows is also included in this series.

Series contains educational material related to the course JOUR 5958.09, "Advanced Television Workshop," taught by Sylvia Hamilton at the University of King's College.

Administrative, reference, and promotional materials for Affirm United and St John's United Church

Series contains materials collected as part of Stewart's LGBT advocacy at St John's United Church in Halifax, and his subsequent involvement with Affirm United, an advocacy organization founded in 1982 that supports LGBTQ members of the United Church of Canada. Stewart was involved in the process of achieving Affirmed status for St John's United Church through the Affirming Ministries Program. Series contains articles, essays, and pamphlets regarding homosexuality and religion; informational documents associated with Affirm United and the Affirmation Congregation Program; manuals and other reference materials relating to the operation of Affirmed congregations; correspondence; issues of Consensus, the Affirm United newsletter; and issues of Open Hands, a journal published by Affirmations: United Methodists for Lesbian/Gay Concerns.

Administrative records of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia

Series contains the administrative records of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia. The series is broken into four sub-series: General Correspondence, Funding and Financial Records, Annual General Meetings, and Records of the Executive Committee.

The General Correspondence sub-series contains copies of all outgoing correspondence of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia for a number of years. It also contains letters of general inquiry from members and non-members, the correspondence of Executive Directors, and a small number of press releases and memos. Correspondence is also present in most of the other series and sub-series in the collection.

The Funding and Financial Records sub-series contains the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia Financial Statements, yearly budgets, the records of the Federation treasurer, and records regarding fundraising and grant monies.

The Records of Annual General Meetings sub-series contains agendas, correspondence, meeting minutes, photographs, press clippings, questionnaires, and other materials regarding the Annual General Meeting. These materials also cover the planning and follow-up activities surrounding the Annual General Meeting.

The Records of the Executive Committee sub-series contains agendas, correspondence, meeting minutes, photographs, press clippings, questionnaires, and other materials created by or in regards to the Executive Committee.
