Collection primarily comprises letters from Captain Graham Roome to his future wife Annie Belle Hollett, written during his overseas service in World War One. There is also a series of letters written to Annie Belle Hollett by various friends and family members.

Correspondence from Captain Graham Roome to Annie Belle Hollett

Series consists of letters written from Captain Graham Roome to Annie Belle Hollett while he was travelling on business and, later, in the course of his overseas duty during World War One. Many of the letters are accompanied by their original envelopes, on which are inscribed the letters' dates and those of Annie's responses. There is also a file containing envelopes for which no letters exist. "Captain" was Roome's given name, rather than his military rank, and he was known as "Cap" to his family, friends and business associates. He went on to become an R.A.F. Squadron Leader.
