Carpets from the orient

Item is a catalogue for an exhibition of rugs originating from various regions of Asia, primarily spanning Turkmenistan, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, India, Pakistan, Turkey, and Afghanistan. This exhibition was organized by and presented at Dalhousie Art Gallery between September 23 and October 23, 1977.

Catalogue contains a foreword by Mary E. MacLachlan (Dalhousie Art Gallery), list of lenders to the exhibition, an introduction covering pattern, colour, and knotting techniques, written by Hans-Gunther Schwarz (Dalhousie University), photographs of select rugs, and descriptions of the various regions and styles of rugs in the exhibition.

Interview with Professor Fritz Lehmann

File is an audio reel containing an interview with Professor Fritz Lehmann of Asian History from the University of British Columbia. A visiting professor at Dalhousie University, Lehmann spoke with CKDU's John Cairncross on his interest in Islam in India.
