Name of creator
Andrew Walter Herdman Lindsay was born in 1870. He graduated from Dalhousie College in 1875 with his MDCM and received his MBCM from the University of Edinburgh in 1877. Returning to Halifax to open a private practice, Herdman also served as the registrar of Dalhousie Medical College, and later as secretary of the Faculty of Medicine from 1885–1915, when he died.
Materials were accessioned by the Dalhousie University Archives in two accessions, one in 1980 and the other in 1984. Materials received in 1980 were found in the basement of the old gymnasium. The custodial history of the 1984 accession is unknown.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of biographical information as well as correspondence associated with the Provincial Medical Board and other papers.
