Biographical history

William Azor Major was born in Halifax on March 12, 1860 to Charles and Eliza (Stevens) Major. In 1886 he married Mary E. Jost. Major worked as an insurance broker. He was also an avid curler and a member of the Halifax Curling Club as early as 1882, serving variously as treasurer, vice president, and president from 1901 to 1906. He remained a senior skip until his death in 1926. He was buried at Camp Hill cemetery.

Custodial history

The records were accessioned by Dalhousie University Archives in 1972. The custodial history is unknown.

Scope and content

File consists of a brief manuscript essay on Halifax Curling Club's history, the 1923 end-of-season report, and an excerpt from a published pamphlet called "Curliana Memorabilia."
