This fonds contains records about the National Radio Farm Forum, including the operations of the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick regions. Records consists of pamphlets, correspondence, memos, guides, annual reports and minutes from the regional and national meetings and conferences, 2 booklets, and an account of the activity of the Earltown, Nova Scotia Farm Forum Radio Group from the period of 1961-1962. Some of the records were created and collected by Longly and C.A. Douglas, as well as regional secretary Rosemary Campbell. It was a national rural listening-discussion group project sponsored by the Canadian Association for Adult Education, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and CBC. Initially, this program was a dramatized discussion of farm problems in wartime, arranged in cooperation with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, and the Canadian Association for Adult Education. Eventually, it evolved into discussions by individuals from various communities across the country. Entries include pencil drawings of animals and plants, newspaper clippings, pictures of Nova Scotia Agricultural College buildings, animal breeds, and events on campus as well as agricultural events around Nova Scotia from the NS Dept. of Agriculture annual reports.

Fonds also contains the policies of Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing in 1996 and correspondence from department staff from 1907 and 1972.

Collection consists of guide notes to a radio broadcast in the 1940's on Canadian farm problems. This was broadcast sponsored by The Canadian Association for Adult Education from Toronto. The guide notes were prepared by J.E. Lattimer, R. Summerby, Emile A. Lods, L.C. Raymond, J.N. Bird, E.W. Crampton, L.H. Hamilton and A.R. Ness.

The Atlantic Canada co-operatives collection consists of approximately 15 meters of published and unpublished materials. This includes books, serials, brochures, loose papers, photographs and slides, maps, audio and visual material, and artifacts.

The fonds contains information about many individual co-operatives and credit unions, as well as documents from larger region-wide co-operative organizations. There is also a large section of general co-operative literature about co-operation as a social movement, in Canada and around the world.

The age of the materials ranges from the early 1900s up to 2002. The majority spans from the 1950s to the 1990s.

John Daniel Logan fonds

Fonds contains music manuscripts and published scores, photographs, and autograph letters written by well-known composers such as Jacques Offenbach, Giuseppe Verdi, and John Philip Sousa.

Through his work as a music critic and journalist in Toronto, Ontario and Halifax, Nova Scotia, Logan communicated with many prominent Canadian musicians in the early twentieth century. Many of the scores, photographs, and autographs included in this collection are a result of his contributions to music criticism. The music and theatre programs are frequently annotated with comments for reviews, and most of his correspondence with musicians and actors relates to his work as a music and theatre critic. Some of the scores were given to Logan as gifts from performers while others were sent to him for review or publication in newspapers. The fonds includes several manuscripts of songs by Edith Jessie Archibald, a prominent social activist and suffragist in Halifax.

Letters sent to Logan also concern his poetic contributions, and the manuscript of one of his books, "Preludes: Sonnets and other Verses," (1906) is part of the fonds.

A sousfond, Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, contains records illustrating the development of the Centre , which was founded by Two Planks' artistic directors, Chris O'Neill and Ken Schwartz.

Fonds consists of records created by Symphony Nova Scotia in the course of its regular business activities. The majority of the records were created during the process of concert-planning, including special concerts, annual concerts, tours, and concert series. These records include artist contracts, marketing and development documents, internal memos, and correspondence with artists and sponsors.

Records also consist of internal management records, including personnel records, office management files, and the files of the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and Chief Executive Officer. The financial administration of the Symphony is documented though budgets, statements, ledgers, and tickets sales data.

The fonds also contains concert programs and promotional material such as posters, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, and other publications. The final section of the fonds consists of audiovisual and graphic material. There are audio recordings of performances and interviews of Symphony personnel as well as video recordings of advertisements and performances. The graphic material includes promotional photographs and photographs of the orchestra.

The accession contains index cards originally stored in 10 small plastic boxes and 1 long cardboard box. The cards were created by Trevor Bebb and contain entries from various shipping registers. The cards describe vessels, captains, and sailors. The accession also contains two oversized ledgers from the nineteenth century and several manuscript sheets of poetry. One plastic box was empty when it entered the archives.
