Publications

This series contains NSDL newsletters, Callboard magazines, manuals/handbooks, and other publicity put out by the NSDL and its affiliate organizations.

Photographs

This series contains photographs of performances, rehearsals, award shows and other events and people associated with the Nova Scotia Drama League.

Production documents

These production documents detail many aspects of theatre production. Notes on the opening night performances, lighting cues, props lists and set drawings comprise this series.

Scripts

Many scripts in the Pier One collection are written by Canadian playwrights. The group was also interested in Haligonian writers and local, non-professional theatre productions. Unproduced scripts are also included in this series. Annotated scripts contain notes regarding production and acting techniques, as well as revisions to the works for production purposes.

Flyers

Flyers were the group's most prolific mode of promotion. Both theatre productions and community programming are represented.

Organizational management

This series contains information on the organization of Pier One as a theatre production company. The hierarchy of the group is outlined and information given about actors involved with the group. Worksheets detail procedures followed by members in the preparation and mounting of productions, including everyday upkeep of the organization and its facilities.

Workshop programming

Pier One developed workshops for both children and adults. This series contains records pertaining to program development, financing, and promotion.

Newspaper clippings

Series contains newspaper clippings about Ellen Ballon. Clippings include articles about a variety of subjects, including Ellen Ballon's life in general, concerts, and her hobbies.

Press books and scrapbooks

Series contains various biographical sketches intended for press releases, as well as scrapbooks of press releases about Ellen Ballon and her performances.

Programs and fliers

Series contains programs and fliers from Ellen Ballon's concert performances. Series also includes an exhibition program of some of the Ellen Ballon materials available at the Dalhousie University Archives as well as a short biography written by a Dalhousie staff member.

Scholastic records

Series contains both the harmony workbooks created by Ellen Ballon during her early schooling as well as certificate letters issued from McGill University regarding her honorary degree and the scholarship program she instigated.

Series contains 14 programs of past operatic performances and notes on the creation of programs.

Personal papers of Ivan Maxwell Gillis

Series contains personal papers of and relating to Ivan Maxwell Gillis. Contents include copies of a scrapbook, copies of his degrees, newspaper clippings, letters of recommendation by others, an article on Gillis by Phyllis Blakeley, and a portrait of Gillis.

Reference material

This series contains newspaper clippings about the United Textile Workers of America Local 159, receipts, an application for membership with the United Textile Workers of America, an efficiency report for 1969, and a record of proceedings and decision of board referees.

Extra-Local Relations and Correspondence

This series documents relations between Local 625 and several other IBEW locals (including Local 1818 prior to the amalgamation), the national and international IBEW offices, other unions, business associates, and government agencies. As part of its mandate, Local 625 maintained relations with IBEW locals across North America in order to accommodate transfers of Local 625 members to other jurisdictions and vice-versa. Correspondence between Local 625 and the national and international offices regarding procedural issues, reports, and policy are also included. Any correspondence of a general nature with legal counsel or regarding legal fees but which is not necessarily relevant to a specific unit or employer is also included in this series. Applications for certification, letters of agreement between the Local and various employers, and other important documents related to government jurisdiction of labour issues are also included in this series.

Programs and publications

Series contains the printed programs given by the Symphony to those in attendance at concerts and fundraising events. It also contains newsletters and season brochures for single-ticket sales and subscriptions.

Operational records

Series consists of records relating to all aspects of the fishing industry, inshore and offshore and predominantly relating to Atlantic Canada, which were created and collected by the Association. Some of the types of records include notes, correspondence, meeting minutes and notes, photographs, publications, memorandums/circulars, and reports and briefs that focus on topics such as export and trade, fishing zones, fish species, processing, safety, government regulations and proposals, fish quotas, marketing, the decline of the fisheries, shipments, and fishing vessels.

Oland and Son (Que) Limited

Series contains the records of Oland and Son (Que) Limited created between 1949 and 1969. Series is broken into five Sub-Series: Blueprints, Correspondence, Financial, Photographs, and Sales Department.

Blueprints series contains two blueprints of a proposed mezzanine floor.

Correspondence Sub-Series primarily contains correspondence between Oland and Son Limited and various employees of Oland and Son (Que) Limited, but also contains correspondence with various business associates, the Quebec Liquor Commission, and the Quebec Brewers Association.

Financial Sub-Series contains financial statements for the various divisions of Oland and Son (Que) Limited, general ledgers, audited financial statements of the company, and cash books.

Photographs Sub-Series contains photographs of Oland and Son (Que) Limited delivery trucks and an exhibition booth featuring the company.

Sales Department Sub-Series primarily consists of sales reports and expense reports prepared by company sales agents.
