A preliminary survey of the natural history of McNab's Island, Halifax Harbour, Nova Scotia

Item is a booklet titled "A Preliminary Survey of the Natural History of McNab's Island, Halifax Harbour, Nova Scotia." The survey was prepared by the staff of the Nova Scotia Museum with the cooperation of the Nova Scotia Bird Society, the Dalhousie Biology Club, and the Nova Scotia Research Foundation. The survey outlines the geology, vegetation, and animal life on McNab's Island, with accompanying maps of the island. The booklet contains some handwritten notes.

Notes about Trafalgar

File contains one spiral bound stenographer's notebook containing handwritten notes from 1994 and 1997 bird surveys in Trafalgar. Each page contains a tally of birds for a certain area.

The file also includes newspaper clippings of articles written by Barbara Hinds, including "Counting birds a cold challenge"; "Radar uncovers some secrets of birds' migration," from the December 14, 1970 issue of the Mail-Star; "Down-To-Earth Exploration For The Birds," from the July 24, 1963 issue of the Mail-Star; "Birdwatchers count 75 species of birds - not one crowsfoot"; "Bird Watching Can Be Rugged," from the December 29, 1964 issue of the Mail-Star.

Marginal Work World Research Program

Series comprises records created and collected by Richard Apostle documenting his work in the Marginal Work World Research Program, an interdisciplinary and long-term examination of employment and work settings in the Maritime provinces carried out through the Institute of Public Affairs, Dalhousie University. Richard Apostle's research focused on two projects: the General Segmentation Survey, which involved the collection and analysis of private sector employment data across the Maritimes; and the longitudinal Morphology Survey, which sampled low-wage establishments across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, and included managerial personnel and employee interviews. Population data and research on the people of Fogo Island over a period of one hundred years is also included. Records consist of correspondence, surveys with fishermen and their wives, research on the fishing industry (particuarly with regard to health problems and fatalities), notes on findings and research, interview transcripts, and audio recordings of the interviews.
